For Good Community

Sustainability is more than an initiative, it is a responsibility. We believe geographic information systems have the power to drive meaningful change by helping communities, organizations, and governments make informed decisions that protect the planet and improve lives.

Our work empowers partners around the world to monitor environmental change, advance conservation, strengthen resilience, and achieve sustainable development goals. From supporting biodiversity and climate adaptation to advancing responsible urban growth, we apply geospatial technology to address today’s most pressing global challenges.

How We Operate

Sustainability Starts With Us

Responsible Cloud Infrastructure

We choose cloud providers and architectures that minimize energy consumption and prioritize renewable energy sources for our client and internal workloads.

Flexible Work Practices

Remote-first and flexible work arrangements reduce our team's carbon footprint while supporting the wellbeing and work-life balance of every Blue Raster employee.

Minimizing Waste

From paperless operations to thoughtful procurement, we apply the same principles of stewardship to our business that we help our conservation clients apply to the natural world.

Esri Partner Conference 2023 Sustainable Development Award

Our commitment to GIS for Good is not only expressed through the projects we take on. It shapes how Blue Raster operates as a company every day. This commitment has been recognized through the Esri Sustainable Development Award, which honors organizations using GIS to create positive social, environmental, and economic outcomes. We are proud of this recognition as it reflects both our internal application expertise and our dedication to sustainability and GIS for Good

Showing Up Beyond Projects

2025 Esri GIS For Good Meetup

In October 2025, Blue Raster sponsored the Esri GIS for Good DC Meetup at Open Gov Hub in Washington, DC, bringing together nonprofit organizations, international development institutions, and GIS professionals to explore how geospatial technology is driving meaningful change across the world.

The event featured inspiring presentations from experts at the World Bank Group, the Inter-American Development Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and the Stimson Center. Each speaker shared how their GIS approach is being applied to tackle global challenges, from environmental sustainability and food security to economic development and humanitarian response.

Esri staff showcased the latest advancements in ArcGIS technology, highlighting innovations in imagery analysis, spatial statistics, GeoAI, and deep learning. Attendees also gained insights into how generative AI, 3D modeling, and digital twins are making complex scientific data more accessible and actionable.

The day concluded with a lively networking reception hosted by Blue Raster, giving participants the opportunity to connect, share ideas, and discuss new ways to apply GIS for good.
