The Atlanta Beltline is an urban revitalization project in the United States consisting of a 22-mile loop of multi-use trails, parks, transit corridors, and economic development projects is being built through and around the City of Atlanta. Atlanta Beltline, Inc. (ABI) is the nonprofit organization charged with bringing the initiatives to life.Â
Part of ABI’s vision is to provide access to equitable and inclusive affordable housing opportunities around the Beltline corridor. ABI works with housing partners and stakeholders across the City of Atlanta to achieve a goal of creating and preserving 5,600 affordable housing units by the end of 2030. To help Atlantans explore affordable housing options and track progress toward this goal, Blue Raster partnered with Atlanta Beltline's Affordable Housing and Data and Impact teams to develop the Atlanta Beltline Affordable Housing Dashboard and mobile application.
Blue Raster and Atlanta Beltline: A Comprehensive GIS Partnership
Since 2025, Blue Raster has served as Atlanta Beltline's GIS professional services partner, supporting the organization across a wide range of geospatial needs. Our work with ABI spans the full lifecycle of a modern enterprise GIS program, including:
Enterprise Administration
Full lifecycle management of ArcGIS Enterprise environments, ensuring stability, performance, and continuous availability.
App Design & Development
Web and mobile applications built to support field operations, stakeholder engagement, and public-facing workflows.
Map Creation
Purpose-built maps supporting internal planning decisions and polished public-facing communications across ABI's program.
Data Governance
Establishing consistent data standards, structures, and workflows that strengthen the integrity of ABI's GIS program.
Application Configuration
Connecting ABI's internal staff tools to their public-facing outputs for a seamless, end-to-end operational experience.
The Affordable Housing Dashboard is one of the most visible products of this partnership. It is built on a broader foundation of GIS support designed to give ABI the tools and capacity to manage their data, tell their story, and track their progress for years to come.
Key Features of the Atlanta Beltline Affordable Housing Dashboard
This interactive ArcGIS Experience Builder application allows a wide range of audiences to locate and explore real-time affordable housing data along the Beltline through interactive maps and metrics.
Housing Explorer:Â
The Housing Explorer page allows users to find available, completed, and under-construction affordable housing properties and directly access listings.Â
Zone Lookup:Â
Developers, investors, and the general public can search for existing or future developments through an address search in the Zone Lookup page. This feature helps users understand development location relative to key Atlanta Beltline planning and incentive areas.Â
Housing Metrics: Â
Progress toward Atlanta Beltline's 5,600 affordable unit goal can be viewed and tracked through the Housing Metrics page, which shows key affordable housing indicators across important geographies including the Tax Allocation District, the Beltline Planning Area, Zoning Overlay, and more.Â
Feedback and FAQ:Â
Further information and opportunities to provide feedback are available through the Feedback/FAQ page, helping ABI continuously improve the tool based on community input.Â
From Spreadsheets to a Centralized GIS Database
This application was built from workflows designed to streamline data management, unify disparate housing datasets, and migrate manual tracking processes into ArcGIS applications. Behind the dynamic public dashboard are ArcGIS web-based editing and automated reporting tools that standardize updates and pull from one singular data source: an enterprise geodatabase.Â
This approach establishes a single source of truth for ABI's affordable housing data, improving accuracy while giving Atlanta Beltline staff an efficient way to maintain and share the latest housing information and progress directly within their GIS environment.Â
The result is a clear, transparent view of affordable housing progress, putting reliable, actionable information directly into the hands of the community it serves.
