Located in California’s Santa Clara County, the City of Gilroy is a vibrant community of about 60,000 residents. Often recognized for its picturesque wine vineyards, lively neighborhoods, yearly festivals, agriculture, and particularly its garlic production, Gilroy has earned the nickname "The Garlic Capital of the World". Beyond these highlights, Gilroy has an extensive network of bike lanes and pedestrian paths, making it easy for residents and visitors to explore all that the city has to offer in an active and sustainable way.

To help residents and visitors better explore these amenities, Blue Raster partnered with the City of Gilroy to develop GilroyPathways, an interactive web mapping application that showcases the city’s trail systems, bicycle infrastructure, and points of interest. Built using Esri technology, the app provides an intuitive, accessible way to discover Gilroy’s pathways while supporting safer and more sustainable mobility.

Built With Trusted Partners

To assure data was up-to-date and precise, Blue Raster partnered with Windrose Surveying & Land Services, LLC  to conduct on the ground data collection. Members of the Windrose team lived in Gilroy for two months, allowing for extensive exploration and accurate data collection using survey-grade GPS equipment. GPS points, photos, and descriptive field notes were delivered regularly to the Blue Raster team.

From the Field to the Screen

Once collected, our team used ArcGIS Pro to process and refine the field data into a comprehensive dataset. Our in-house UI/UX design team worked collaboratively with city stakeholders to design an application with user-friendly features highlighting the detailed dataset within ArcGIS Experience Builder. This platform allowed us to efficiently create a centralized and accessible resource to help users visualize path networks, view photos through pop-ups, and plan their routes.

Whether you are exploring Gilroy on two feet or two wheels, Gilroy Pathways makes it easier than ever to plan your route and enjoy everything this unique city has to offer.

Looking to transform your community’s data into an engaging, user-friendly mapping experience? We’d love to partner with you.
