Blue Raster is partnering with the Center for Health Innovation Public Health Institute (CHI-PHI), New Mexico's public health institute. CHI-PHI selected us to modernize its ArcGIS Online environment and ArcGIS Hub site, so its public health GIS resources are easier to find, organize and maintain.
CHI-PHI works to improve community health through collaboration, research, education and public health initiatives. Alongside its prevention, training and advocacy work, it runs the New Mexico Community Data Collaborative, which offers tailored research services.
Maps already matter to that work. CHI-PHI reports building 40 county and tribal health council dashboards that bring health data down to the ZIP code level.
Modernizing CHI-PHI's public health GIS
We'll work closely with CHI-PHI to review and reorganize its existing ArcGIS Online organization. From there, we'll improve how content is managed and shared, and enhance the ArcGIS Hub site that puts that content in front of partners and the public.
The goal is a GIS environment that's streamlined and sustainable. When content is well organized, staff spend less time hunting for the right layer and more time using it. That means CHI-PHI staff can manage geographic information, publish maps and applications, and share public health information with partners and communities more effectively.
To get there, we're combining our own experience with AI and recently updated ArcGIS Online tools.
Esri's June 2026 release added features aimed at exactly this kind of cleanup. Item pages now show where each piece of content is used and what depends on it, and organizations can point people from retired content to its replacement.
The same release brought an Item Details assistant (beta) that helps fill in metadata, and ArcGIS Hub workspaces now replace the classic site editor.
Our experience with public health GIS
Blue Raster has extensive experience helping public health organizations use GIS to better understand and communicate health challenges. Our work includes supporting HealthLandscape and the American Medical Association's Health Workforce Mapper, along with a range of public health agencies and research institutions.
We're looking forward to bringing that experience to CHI-PHI. We'll keep helping public health organizations modernize their GIS platforms and make their data more accessible and actionable.
